Kruger National Park is one of the best game reserves in Africa, and one of the oldest in South Africa. If you’re a wildlife lover, this famous park definitely needs to be on your South Africa itinerary.
The park lies about a 3.5- to 4.5-hour drive from Johannesburg and offers visitors the chance to see the “Big Five”: lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhino, as well as an astounding diversity of other wildlife. It’s also home to San (bushman) rock paintings and archaeological sites.
We cover the popular Central Kruger. Accommodation is very comfortable & Meals consist of Coffee & Rusks in the morning, lunch & Dinner. We make the journey part of your holiday in our Custom Built Overland Tour Trucks with Spacious Seating, Panoramic Windows, Flush Toilet, Charging Facilities for Cameras & Cell Phones & more!
We will collect you at the OR Tambo International Airports Bus Terminus (or within 5km) where you will board the Safari vehicle. After a short introduction to the many facilities on board the vehicle such as the music system, flush toilet, heating system and Honesty bar facilities and completion of the indemnity forms we depart for the Kruger National Park. Once we drop off the Highveld Escarpment and into the more temperate almost tropical climate of the Lowveld the scenery becomes spectacular. The excitement of entering one of the premier Game Parks on the planet is palpable and we offer a small prize to the first guest to spot an animal once we enter the park. Once in camp ice all pitch in in setting up the tents, we will have an alfresco dinner around the fire or in our chosen rest camp. Each day we keep a record of the wildlife spotted on the sighting board on the back wall of the Safari truck.

Early wake up call with coffee & rusks ready for you, then a breakfast of special muesli & fresh yogurt on the game vehicle to save time and since not everyone likes to eat so early in the morning. The morning drive, around 140 Km (6 Hours) gets us to camp around 12H00 where we prepare lunch. The route is fantastic since it follows various rivers and passes many waterholes & pans where game congregates to drink. Since we will only be going out at 15H00 for the afternoon drive this gives us plenty time to relax whether in the park shop, at the pool or a siesta in our accommodation. The afternoon drive is from 15H00 until the late afternoon. We again have dinner al fresco style in camp. Weather permitting we will point out a few constellations in the night sky. If you want to do a night drive or bush walk you are in the perfect place.

They both have such different safari experiences! Tanzania offers Big Five game reserves on classic dusty desert plains, rather South Africa partners the Big Five animals with luscious winelands. Both are just as good, but it depends on your safari style.
That’s a tough one! Botswana is home to herds of elephants at Chobe and the sparkling Okavango Delta, and Tanzania has the iconic Mount Kilimanjaro and Great Migration. Check out our article on Botswana vs Tanzania safaris to help you decide.
Tanzania is in general a safe, hassle-free country. However, like most places, you do need to take precautions and listen to your tour guide. It also pays to read our articles on ‘Things to know before going to Tanzania’.
A camera and binoculars are a must. You’ll regret it if you don’t take them! As for clothing, definitely pack lightweight, breathable clothing. Remember, Tanzania is an arid country so the days can get quite hot. Read more on what to pack for a safari in Tanzania in our travel magazine
